We're looking to recruit a hardworking and friendly Duty Manager to contribute to the running and organisation of our Tree Tops Trail, alongside our Management team. This will include managing many aspects of site operation including the organisation of staff, equipment, health and safety, customer care and administration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee a safe site, safe people (including both customers and colleagues) a safe course (infrastructure) and safe equipment.
  • Help train and build a happy, engaged and professional team who can deliver an amazing customer experience.
  • Liaise with site managers to organise and plan both slot timings and allocations as well as managing existing bookings to maximise business opportunities.

This will be achieved through:

Team management:

  • Conducting induction meetings for all new staff.
  • Managing the performance of all employees and where necessary reporting performance and disciplinary issues to site managers.
  • Managing staff effectively on a day-to-day basis.
  • The right candidate will also be required to carry out activity sessions across the site.

Health and Safety:

  • Ensure a safe workplace environment without a risk to the health of you, your colleagues and visiting customers.
  • Ensure that all health and safety policies, procedures, rules and regulations are adhered to and communicated with help from our H&S Executives.
  • Ensure all staff use equipment in a safe manner as trained.
  • Ensure the safe operation of the course.
  • Keep a record and carry out periodical site, course and kit checks, recording any findings.
  • Ensure all participants complete a disclaimer form before carrying out a session.
  • Apply first-aid when necessary, appropriate to your skill level.
  • Report and record all accidents, significant incidents and rescues correctly.
  • Candidate must be comfortable using basic technology to carry out daily set up/close down checks.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):

  • Fit and remove customer PPE correctly.
  • Inspect and maintain site, PPE and other safety equipment, ensuring it is in good order.
  • Ensure site PPE is correctly serviced.
  • Maintain the PPE and equipment records as required.

Customer Service and Safety:

  • Assist with customer enquiries and bookings.
  • Welcome customers and prepare them to take part in site activities.
  • Ensure all participants are fully prepared to take part in available activities, and that they comply with company rules regarding height, weight, age and medical conditions.
  • Complete briefs in any of the available activities across the site.
  • Do everything within reason to maximise customer satisfaction and minimise customer complaints.

Requirements for the position

  • The right candidate must be able to show the ability to lead, manage, motivate and delegate appropriately.
  • Excellent organisation and leadership skills.
  • Previous experience in providing a high level of customer service.
  • It is desirable that the right candidate is SPA or RCI certified, or holds an equivalent qualification/s.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines.
  • An ability to maintain site, structures and equipment is desirable.
  • Must enjoy working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions and be confident working at height.
  • It is an operational necessity that the right candidate is certified and prepared to conduct rescues (Rescue training can be provided to the right candidate).
  • A level of qualification in First Aid (First-Aid training can be provided to the right candidate).

Details

  • Salary is dependent on skills and experience.
  • Heatherton World of Activities will fund all necessary training and vocational courses to further a candidates development to benefit both the business and the individual.
  • Working hours will average at 40 hours per week.
  • The role will run for 10 months a year running from the beginning of February to the end of November to match site opening hours.
  • Weekend working will be required.
  • Holidays are accrued on a pro-rata basis.
  • This role will be subject to a 3-month probational period.
  • All applicants must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
